Vengeance (robo-funk, 6:02)
One night in a cold, dusty office, a younger David Heagle waxed poetic on the glorious cheap, beat-boxy funk noises that came out of the early 80s. Therein lay the inspiration for me to vomit out more modern-day retro nonsense, of which we are all in dire, dire need.
What if Bootsy Collins were part of Devo? And if it happened, what of the state of modern eyewear?
Satisfaction Guaranteed (noise, 1:00)
Composed for (and used in) the Particles 1 compilation. The concept behind the compilation was "tiny songs"; preferably only one minute in length, but no more than two minutes. I got the bright idea to take a bunch of pop hits and time-compress them down to the fundamental tones, and then use those as instruments in another song. Hence the name, since using all these hit songs must mean the resulting mix will be a hit! Time-compressed in Sound Forge and arranged in Acid.
It kind of sounds like a massive, busy machine.
1110001111 (noise, 1:13)
Composed for the Particles 1 compilation. Single Nord Modular patch plus various delay/reverb effects in Sound Forge.
It's the story of a computer, in the back of an ambulance, that dies on the way to the hospital.
Torture (Box of Trial Edit) (noise, 1:52)
Composed for the Particles 1 compilation. Single Nord Modular patch with a very slight distortion (though you wouldn't think so). "Box of Trial" is a reference to the great Something Awful prank.
The torturer, using blades and electricity, pushes his victim's system to the point of cardiac arrest and mental meltdown.
